Lois Rindlisbacher Hughs

June 16, 1934 — January 1, 2024

Providence, Utah

Lois Rindlisbacher Hughs, born June 16, 1934 in Amalga, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 in Logan, Utah.
Lois was a devoted sister and aunt, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a passion for sports, especially playing softball in women’s leagues in Utah, for teams Jim's Texico in Cache Valley and Utah Shamrocks in Salt Lake City. Her love for sports inspired her to earn a degree in education and to enjoy a career teaching high school physical education. She taught at Bear River High School in Tremonton, Utah and Cleveland High School in Portland, Oregon. She married Boyd Hughs, becoming an immediate Mom to his daughters Julie and Judy. The years followed the birth of Randy, twins J & D (stillborn) and Kirk. They raised their family outside Gresham, Oregon on a small farm and owned and operated a HVAC business together. When retirement came and all the kids were moved away, her and Boyd bought a small ranch outside of Redmond, Oregon, where they enjoyed farming together. After Boyd’s passing, Lois remained in Redmond, where she continued to make lifelong friends with people of the Redmond 1st and 2nd Wards. After a lot of encouragement and the birth of four additional grandchildren, Lois returned back to Cache Valley so she could be closer to them, her sister-in-laws, and close friends. Her life was full of adventure and people she loved. She was an optimist and always encouraged everyone to make the best of any situation and that everything would work out in the end. She was an active and engaged member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was diagnosed with cancer in October 2022 but that diagnosis did not change how she lived her life. With relatively little pain over those month, she enjoyed her relationships with other up to the final two hours of her life. The final wisdom she shared with everyone was “Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the way to find true happiness in life and to be together again as a family.” We will miss our positive, kind, happy Mom, Grandma, and friend. Borrowing her words “We love you whole bunches!”

She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Hughs, and sons Randy, J, and D Hughs. And she leaves daughters Julie Byers, Judy Nuffer (John), and Kirk Hughs (Jen) and a lot of grandchildren, to carry on her memory and legacy.
