Joan Petersen Miller, age 81, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. She was born on January 5, 1943, in Park City, Utah to John Albert Petersen and Leal Grant Petersen.
 
Throughout her life, Joan resided in various parts of Utah including Park City, Ogden, and Garland before ultimately settling back in Ogden. She was a proud alumna of Bear River High School and Utah State University.
 
Joan dedicated her career to secretarial work before transitioning into a production role at Autoliv, where she ultimately retired. Among her notable accomplishments were her cherished role as a mother and her active involvement in the Eagles organization. Having served in numerous capacities within the Eagles organization at the state level, Joan took great pride in each position she held. Her leisurely pursuits included a fondness for reading, watching Western movies (particularly those starring John Wayne), and Star Wars.
 
Joan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
 
Joan is survived by James Tarbet; her children Christina Villegas (Eddie Mack Barela, Jr), Russell Petersen, Becky (Paul) Branham, and Malissa (Gary) Fisher; along with grandchildren Ashly (Tylar) Bills, Shannon (Austraia) Fisher, among 5 others; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her brother John Petersen.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents John Albert Petersen and Leal Grant Petersen; siblings Guy Albert Petersen, Bill Petersen, and Connie Haslam; as well as her son Donald Wayne Miller.
 
A memorial service in honor of Joan will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Noon with a visitation held prior from 11:00 A.M.-11:45 AM at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E in Tremonton). Interment will follow at the Garland Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.
